Why Head Massage? Your head is one of the most important parts of your body! It also contains vital energy points that connect to your brain, mind and your entire body.

This is a simple practice that helps calm the mind, relax the nervous system, and help you feel more grounded, relaxed and intelligent.

You may be surprised at how powerful it is! The benefits of head massage include:

  • Calming the mind

  • Strengtheing the nervous system

  • Supporting memory, cognition, and alertness

  • Bringing clarity and strength to the senses

  • Promoting deep relaxation and the release of tension

  • Nourishing and supporting healthy hair

  • Supporting hormonal balance

  • Balancing brain chemistry and improving mood

  • Deeper sleep

Instructions:

  1. Start with your choice of oil for your body-type such as brahmi, coconut or sesame oil. Warm the oil to a comfortable temperature.

  2. If you have less time, you can simply place approx. 1 tbsp of oil on your crown chakra before sleep (instead of a full massage).

  3. If you have time to do the head massage, you can begin by sitting in an upright position. Pour a small amount of oil into your hands and then comb your fingers through your hair.

  4. Pour approx 1 tablespoon of oil onto the crown of the head (crown chakra) and massage the oil onto either side of the head using your fingers.

  5. Bend your head forward so that your chin touches the chest. Pour more oil along the back of your head where the hairline ends. You can also spread the oil over the back of the head.

  6. With firm pressure, massage your entire head in small, circular motions with the tips of the fingers. This should feel really good. Take your time !

  7. If possible, this is a good time to also massage your body, or just your neck and shoulders.

  8. Leave the oil in for a minimum of twenty minutes. Cover your head to protect it from air and cold drafts. If you plan to keep the oil in the hair overnight, consider a cap, a turban, or a plastic bag with a towel on top to protect your linens.

  9. Wash well with shampoo and style as usual.

Enjoy the benefits of this beautiful practice!
