Rejuvenative Drink for Vata Dosha

Updated: Nov 4, 2019

"The deliciousness of milk and honey is the reflection of the pure heart. From that heart, the sweetness of every sweet thing is derived." - Rumi

Ashwagandha is a popular ayurvedic herb known to promote endurance, immunity, resilience to stress, muscle tone, sound sleep and sexual vitality. It is ideal for balancing vata and kapha dosha, and a great tonic for the fall and winter months.

This drink can be taken at bedtime to promote sound sleep, or anytime you need a boost.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp ghee

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • black pepper

  • 1 cup milk of your choice (e.g. organic cow's milk, almond milk)

  • 1/2 tsp ashwaghanda powder

  • 1 generous teaspoon raw organic honey

Instructions

1. Heat 1 tsp ghee in saucepan. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and a few grinds of black pepper (optional). Mix lightly with heat.

2. Add 1 cup almond milk (or the milk of your preference). If using cow's milk, bring to a boil gently and then reduce the heat.

3. Add 1/2 tsp ashwaghanda powder and stir.

Remove from heat and allow the drink to cool slightly. When cool, add 1 generous tsp of raw organic honey and stir again. Avoid adding honey when the milk is too hot (it burns the honey and makes it toxic).

Enjoy!
