Stewed Apple Breakfast for Healthy Digestion and Elimination

One of the most common questions that I get is : what should I eat for breakfast? Stewed apples make for a really nice, simple, light breakfast to help enkindle the digestive fire 🔥 and support healthy elimination. Choosing the right breakfast also supports more energy and natural mind-body connection throughout your day. You can follow the apples with another meal 30 minutes after (e.g. oatmeal) if you're still hungry, or explore some of the nuts and seeds options suggested below. Ingredients:

  • 1 apple (organic, ripe, sweet variety)

  • 1 tbsp organic raisins (dark) - optional

  • 2 dry organic apricots ( sulfur free) - optional

  • 1/2-1 tsp organic true cinnamon (ground)

  • 1-3 clove (optional - omit for pitta) or 1/4 – 1/2 tsp cardamom (optional)

  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds (optional)

  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds, 10 soaked almonds or 4 walnuts (optional)

  • 1 tsp ghee or flax seed oil (optional)

Instructions:

1. Chop an apple into bite-size cubes.

2. In a small saucepan, mix spices into 3 tbsp of water. Fruits and bring it to a gentle boil, reduce to simmer and cover with the lid. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until tender.

3. Before serving, add nuts and oil if desired. Transfer into a plate or bowl. Let them cool a bit. Eat them warm.
