Rehydration Water

“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding.

But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield.

As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard.

This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”

―Lao Tzu

Rehydration Water

My friends call this recipe "Ayurvedic Gatorade" -- a powerful yet simple way to stay hydrated, or to counterbalance the effects of chronic dehydration.

One of the common mistakes that we make when we feel thirsty is when we don't know how to replace the electrolytes in the body -- which is where this recipe comes in handy.

Helpful for caring for the delicate vata dosha (air/ ether elements) of the body-mind, in heat waves, travel or during solar flares.

The recipe: Rehydration Water

Prepare 1 cup of filtered water at room temperature (no ice!). Add 1 TBSP maple syrup (or raw local honey), 1-3 squeezes of fresh lime (or lemon) to taste, and 1/4 tsp of mineral salt. Stir well and enjoy. Serves 1 or double the recipe to hydrate a friend (especially our senior population).
