Moon Bath Ritual (Sole Bath)
The Sole Moon Bath ritual is an ancient Celtic cleansing practice. It is believed to have purification effects equal to a 3-day fast.
Pronounced 'Soo-lay', this cleansing ritual brings new minerals into your body while helping to release toxins, acidity and inflammation in the body. It also works to harmonize any bioenergetic weaknesses in your body, to activate your body's optimal energetic flow, and to help you re-set in alignment with nature's rhythms..
This bath can be done twice a month, during the fill and new moon phases. You can also do this bath at the equninox, which is a time of heightened purification energies.
Prepare 24 hours in advance:
Your preparation for the Sole Bath ritual begins 24 hours in advance.
You will need:
1 litre mason jar
1 cup himalayan crystal bath salts (or any himalayan salt)
Place 1 cup of himalayan crystal bath salts into the 1 litre mason jar. Pour enough hot water to fill the jar. You can turn the jar over or gently shake with your intention to help the salt dissolve. Let this rest for 24 hours.
Bathing instructions:
When you are ready to take your bath, you will start by drinking 3 teaspoons of the salt brine from the top of the mixture. This will help detoxify your body. Ideally, you will do this bath away from meals or on an empty stomach (1-3 hours after a meal).
Prepare a hot bath. Ideally, measure the temperature before bathing to approximately 98 degrees farhenheit (36.6 celsius). When you have reached the desired water level, pour the water into the bath.
Prepare your bathroom by lighting some candles and beautifying the space. Clear your mind of chatter and mental noise. As you go into the bath, set your intention for the purification of your mind, heart and body. Bathe for approx. 30 minutes.
For additional purification, you can also consider adding the following to your bath:
10 drops lavender oil, 10 drops rosemary oil, 5 drops sage oil (optional). Please do not use any other chemical substances in your bath.
After your bath, gently pat your skin and let the body air dry naturall. Do not use any lotions at this time. Do not shower until the following day. Let your body rest. Have a cup of tea.
