Herbal Tea to Boost Immunity, Stress-Resilience and Mood

This simple home remedy is being shared by the governments of India and Nepal to help citizens boost immunity and mood during the Covid-19 outbreak.

This herbal combination is considered to be effective in helping to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and to boost immunity, digestion and stress-resilience.

You can make it in tea bags, or by adding the mix to boiled water on the stove.

Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • Tulsi (Holy Basil whole leaf or powder or Ocimum sanctum) – 2 cups

  • True Cinnamon Powder (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) – 1 cups

  • Dry Ginger Powder ( Zingiber officinale) - – 1 cup

  • Black Pepper Whole (Piper nigrum) – 1/2 cup

Preparation:

  • Use the dry ingredients to make a coarse powder. Place in a clean jar or in teabags (approx. 3/4 teaspoon per serving).

  • Make a hot drink or tea by dissolving 3/4 of a teaspoon of the powder in 150 ml of boiled water. Consume once or twice daily.

  • To taste, you may also wish to add jaggery, raisins and/or lemon juice to this formula.

We are grateful to Dr. Nawaraz Subedi and CAISH in Toronto for sharing this remedy with us.
