A 9-Week Exploration of the Science of Self-Healing

 

Overview

In this series, you will learn:

- principles for vibrant, natural health from Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga

- your unique mind-body type, and how to care for yourself in practical ways

- to upgrade your cooking using spices, herbalism and food as medicine
- secrets of self-care to nourish, strengthen, balance and detox your body, mind and emotions 

- guided meditations and breathing practices to help you relax and connect with your body’s wisdom (or intuition)

- natural solutions to improve digestion, sleep, focus, energy and natural joy
 

 
 

What will I learn?

Our classes will focus on the following themes:

Session 1: Introduction to Mind-Body Healing & Natural Self-Care

  • Principles of balance, harmony and self-healing 

  • The natural self; the root cause of "dis-ease"; and the 3 mahagunas

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation to activate inner wisdom

Session 2: Daily Routines for Clarity and Energy

  • Introduction to the 3 doshas (or mind-body types)

  • Daily practices to balance mood, energy, circadian rhythms and daily detox

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation on the Sun

Session 3: Healthy Digestion, Elimination and Immunity

  • Understanding your digestive fire and wise eating principles

  • The science of food combining and tips for healthy elimination

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation to empower your navel wisdom

Session 4: Detoxification, Rejuvenation and Seasonal Balance

  • What are toxins (ama) ? Signs, symptoms and impacts on energy, immunity and resilience

  • Introduction to seasonal cleansing and the one-day home detox (optional practice)

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation for purity and light

Session 5: Healthy Digestion II, Bodily Tissues & Glow

  • Nourishing the bodily tissues (intro to the 7 dhatus)

  • Common digestive issues and simple home remedies

  • The science of taste for immunity, balance and healthy bodily tissues

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation on digestion and your healthy glow

Session 6: In Depth Exploration of Your Mind-Body Type

  • An in-depth exploration of the 3 mind-body types: body, mind and emotional traits

  • Tips for diet, exercise, herbalism and self-care for the 3 mind-body types

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation to connect with the elements

Session 7: The Purification of the Senses

  • Caring for your 5 senses for clarity, joy and stress-resilience

  • Self-care practices to soothe the nervous system and balance emotions

  • Guided breathing exercise and vibrational meditation for sensory harmony, peace and harmony

Session 8: The Refinement of the Doshas: Energy, Vitality and Immunity

  • The 3 vital essences which give vitality, energy and vibrant health (ojas, tejas and prana)

  • Tonics, recipes and lifestyle principles for virility, strength, and clear perception

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation for interconnectedness and bliss 

Session 9: Becoming Your Own Best Healer

  • Empowering wisdom form within : the Ayurvedic science of bliss, joy and purpose

  • Q&A Session with Briya

  • Guided breathing exercise and meditation on self-connection and inner wisdom 

Courses will take place every other week on Thursday evenings.


All sessions will be offered LIVE 

in a fun and engaging online forum.

If you need to miss a class, don't worry! 

All courses will be recorded.

You will also receive class notes, recipes and self-care practices

to try at home at your leisure.

To enhance your learning, you will also have the opportunity

to be paired with an Ayurvedic study buddy

(a recommended option to support your learning!)

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old system of natural healing from Ancient India. Known as the 'sister science' of yoga, it uses a combination of food, herbalism and self-care to help the body-mind heal from illness and restore a natural state of strength, immunity and balance.


At its core, ayurveda teaches us that our wellness is innate, and comes through the alignment with nature's cycles and being who we truly are.

 

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

BRIYA FREEMAN

Briya (Rachel) Freeman draws on over 15 years’ practice and study in yoga, meditation and mind-body healing.

Her primary inspiration draws from a long-term mentorship under the guidance of Berdhanya Swami Tierra, a female mystic and shaman of South American origin, and from the science of ayurveda, a system of holistic medicine and self-care.

She is a graduate of The Bioenergetics Institute of Ottawa (2012), holds studies from Anjali School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma (Kerala, India 2012-2016), a Bachelor's degree from The Telfer School of Management (2006) and studies in International Business at L'Ecole Supérieure de Rouen (France, 2004).
